How to Use
- Choose the recognition language — Pick the language you will speak from the dropdown. The default follows the site language, but the selector works independently of it.
- Start dictation — Click “Start dictation” and allow microphone access when your browser asks. Speak naturally at a normal pace.
- Watch the live results — Interim (not yet final) words appear dimmed above the transcript as you speak; finished phrases are appended to the transcript below.
- Stop dictation — Click “Stop dictation” when you are done. Your transcript stays on the page.
- Edit freely — The transcript is a normal text area: fix recognition mistakes, delete passages, or type additional text.
- Copy or download — Use “Copy” to send the transcript to your clipboard, or “Download .txt” to save it as a text file.

Is my voice sent to a server?
Speech recognition is performed by your browser, not by this website. In Chrome and Edge, your microphone audio is processed by the browser vendor's recognition service; Safari performs some recognition on-device. The transcript itself never leaves this page — this tool uploads and stores nothing.
Which browsers are supported?
Speech to Text uses the Web Speech API (SpeechRecognition). It works in Chrome, Edge, and Safari 14.1 or later. Firefox does not implement the API, so the tool shows a fallback message there suggesting Chrome, Edge, or Safari.
Which languages can I dictate in?
The recognition-language selector offers 12 languages: English (US), English (UK), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), German, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, and Hindi. The selector is independent of the site language — the default follows the site language, but you can switch freely at any time.
Can I edit and export the transcript?
Yes. Final results are appended to an editable text area — you can correct, delete, or type additional text at any time. Use the Copy button to copy the transcript to your clipboard, or Download to save it as a .txt file. Word and character counts update live as you edit.
