How to Use

  1. Upload your image — Drag and drop a JPEG, PNG, or WebP file onto the upload area, or click to browse your device. All processing happens locally in your browser—no files are uploaded to any server.
  2. Adjust the quality — Use the quality slider to find the perfect balance between file size and visual fidelity. Lower values create smaller files; higher values preserve more detail.
  3. Compare side-by-side — View the original and compressed images next to each other in real-time. Use the toggle to zoom in and inspect fine details.
  4. Download or convert format — Click the download button to save the compressed version. Use the format dropdown to convert your image to JPEG, PNG, or WebP before downloading.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does image compression work?

Our tool uses your browser's built-in Canvas API to re-encode images at a lower quality setting. All processing happens in your browser -- no data is ever sent to any server. For JPEG and WebP, compression is lossy. For PNG, the tool reduces color depth and removes metadata.

Will I lose image quality?

At quality settings above 70%, the quality loss is usually imperceptible while still achieving significant file size reduction. At lower settings, you may notice compression artifacts. We recommend starting at 80% quality and using the side-by-side comparison to find the optimal balance.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. All image processing is done entirely in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device. This makes the tool both private and fast, and you can use it offline after the page loads.
